Week 19 Long Week

Image
Logan.barker@missionary.org Hey guys, this week was a long week. It started with inspections, which are always fun. Then after that we had interviews with our mission president. This interview was especially awesome, I really got to talk with president and receive spiritual nourishment. That was the little boost I needed to make it through the week. Probably the biggest highlight of this week was Treva's baptism!!!! It was very eventful to say the least (with family drama and some contention), but she is now baptized and confirmed a member. It is so cool to see how the work moves forth, and how amazing baptism truly is. Also I take for granted people cleaning up after things, because man cleaning up after that baptism was rough. Anyway the last highlight of this week was Ernie coming to church for the second time in a row. He is such an awesome kid, and I enjoy teaching him so much. He even wrote me a card saying thanks. Anyway sorry for the short email, I miss you all, and hope y...

Week 18 Baptisms!

Image
Logan.barker@missionary.org Hey guys, this one is going to be a little short. However this week we were able to put 2 people on date! One of them was Alan, he has a testimony, and loves the church. It was so cool to hear him talk about him feeling the spirit, when he made the descion to get baptized. The other one this week was Ernie. He was super happy to get baptized, and because of his commitment he came to church this past Sunday! A really cool miracle this week was while we were out making visits, and Elder Hamblin felt prompted to go see someone, as we drove into the neighborhood they were in I remembered that we set up a lesson with someone that was going to happen sometime at the end of the week, and we checked the texts and we had scheduled a lesson at the time we were in the neighborhood. We were able to have that lesson and set up another one. Not sure how we spaced a lesson that badly, but it is so cool to see how that Lord watches out for his children. I hope you all ...

Week 17 Zone Conference and Visits

Logan.barker@missionary.org Hey guys! I hope you had great week. Not much exciting stuff happened so I'll give a quick run down on people we are teaching. First, Treva is a 9 year girl with big heart and an even bigger testimony. She flew through the lessons, met all the commitments, and is now getting baptized on the 28th. Next is Alan, he is an older gentleman, who loves having us over. We have been teaching him the whole time I have been here, so it's been fun to meet with him every week. He knows almost everything about our church and what we believe in, he is even in Helaman right now, which is so awesome. Ernie is another 9 year old kid, and I love going over to his house, because he is just like my younger brother Landon. We are almost through all of the lessons with him, and he is working his way through the Book of Mormon. This week we plan to put him on date, so next week I might have exciting news. Debbie is an awesome person, who we are slowly being able to teach. ...

Week 16 Quarantined, and New Companion

Image
logan.barker@missionary.org Hey guys, not much happened this week. The week started and I got my new companion, he is pretty cool, and he came out at the same time as me. We taught a few lessons, and visited people. A huge miracle this week was his first day, we were teaching a referral for the first time, Brenna, and she was just golden, she was just loving everything we were teaching. It was so cool to see her face light up when we talked about the restoration. Anyway we also looked for a new apartment, and then we got quarantined because we were exposed to COVID-19. So us being us, naturally we put tacks on the end of nerf darts and shot them at each other, which was pretty fun not gonna lie. Anyway we found a way to pass the time, and I had a lot of time I could use as study time. So not much to write about this week but, hey next week will be awesome. I miss you all, and wish you the best this week.  Elder Barker   Dinner we had with a member wh...

Week 15 New Years

Image
Logan.barker@missionary.org Hey guys not much happened this week. It was pretty much teach and visit. One of our most progressing people Alan, has been resistant to baptism up to this point, however this lesson he brought it up himself. So it is awesome to see everyone progressing, and learning the gospel. The big things from this week were new years eve, which our whole district just partied and had a good time. It was fun to hang out with all the Elders. Also transfers happened and my companion Elder Martin is leaving, and I am staying and getting Elder Hamblin as my new companion. Sorry this is so short but I have a busy night tonight so this is all I can do. Love you all, and hope you have a great new year! Elder Barker
