Week 14 Christmas
Logan.Barker@missionary.org
Hey guys, I hope you all had a great Christmas!!
To
start the week off on Monday, we balled and played a nerf war with
members in our ward.. Tuesday, we were able to go to the temple. It was a
super awesome experience, and the Portland temple is super pretty.
After the temple we ate at Olive garden, and went to Deseret book. That
took pretty much all day, but it was totally worth it. I would encourage
all that can to go to the temple often! Anyway Wednesday, and the first
half of Thursday was normal missionary work. Then we got a call saying
that Lebanon was going to have an ice storm. So we had to stay in the
apartment all day. The crazy thing was about 10 min before we got the
call we were biking, it was super cold so it made sense. Anyway Thursday
afternoon we stayed in the apartment, and just chilled with the other
Elders who happened to be on exchanges. It was super fun, we ended up
playing dew pong, and me and Elder Martin won a best of 5 game. It is a
lot harder than I thought but it is still fun. Anyway, Friday morning we
woke up, looked outside and it looked like an ice rink. The streets and
sidewalks were covered in ice. So we couldn't drive anywhere. It was a
good thing, cause there ended up being 12 car pile ups and multiple
other crashes. So us being guys, we went and played in the ice. We also
played keep away, basically we took a 5 pound weight and it slid like a
hockey puck, so we were running around trying to get and keep it away
from the others. Let me just say we all fell multiple times. However it
was super fun I would highly recommend. The rest of the day we just
chilled, played a little ball, and ended the day with service. Then came
Christmas eve. The morning was pretty normal, but we were told we could
take the day a little easier, so we went and did service, chilled with
the district for a little bit, and had an amazing dinner. Also we got to
watch Norad Santa tracker for a little bit so that was cool. Then came
Christmas, my family made me wake up at 5 so i could call them at 6. It
was super hard to not be there with them, but the call was super nice
and it was awesome to see how happy they were after they saw what they
got from Santa. After the call, I had an awesome breakfast, with
cinnamon rolls, bacon, eggs, etc, it was really good. After that we had
an amazing church service, then we went to Cindy's, she is our family
history helper, we just had tacos and played some board games, it was a
blast. Then we visited a member in the ward for a little bit. After that
we had dinner with the McCormicks, it was also super good, and filling.
They are one of my favorite family's in the ward, it was super fun to
talk with them. To end the day we went to the Hansen's with most of the
district. They have a super nice house, with like everything. Snacks,
shuffleboard, the basketball arcade thing, etc. It was a great way to
end the day. Anyway I hope you all had a great Christmas, and remembered
Christ this season, I miss you all and wish you the best!
