Week 22 Weekly Email
Logan.barker@missionary.org
Hey guys! I hope you have had a great week! My week has been pretty good. It started off with probably the best P day of my mission. Me and Elder Hamblin decided that we were becoming way to dominant in basketball, so we were gonna try something different. At a service project earlier in the week, we were told about this awesome hike close by so naturally we had to do it. Let me tell you guys it did not disappoint. It was nice to see lots of trees, and plants everywhere without thorns. On this hike we saw two waterfalls, it was a nice reminder of the beautiful earth God has given us. The rest of the week, the theme was definitely visits. Almost every day without fail, we made some visits. A couple visits in particular stood out. One visit was to someone we are teaching that we haven't seen for a while. So we decided one of the best ways to reach people is to "Sister Missionary it". That basically is just making them some food to bring over. Let me tell you guys it definitely works. We thought she would like brownies, and like any good Elders would do, we tried our best. However when we took the brownies out of the oven and let them cool, it was not brownies. It was like a chocolate cake trying to look like a brownie. Let me tell you guys I have a newfound respect for bakers. Anyway it's the thought that counts right...?The second visit was to someone who hadn't been to church in a while. We stopped by and were just able to talk to her for a while, and get to know her. Long story short we were able to come back and do some service, which included building a fence. Then on Sunday we saw her there, it is so cool how the Lord cares for each one of his children, and is always willing and trying to bring them back to the fold. The last major highlight from this week was tracting with someone who wants to go on a mission, his name is Alex. Anyway we were just going along tracting, and like normal door slammed, after door slammed, after door slammed. It's actually kind of funny how people say no to us and then shut the door and you can still hear them talking, or you can see them looking out their window and then running away. But it is all about the one, and we came to this one house, and a guy named Jeff was working on his car. We asked him how he was doing, and just got a conversation going. We ended up giving him a Book of Mormon, and telling him the best parts about our church. It is so cool how just talking to one person can make you so happy after all the rejection, it reminds you of why you are serving in the first place. Anyways that's about it for my week, I'll just end with reminding you guys that the Lord doesn't expect you to be perfect all he asks is your best, and if you give him that blessings will come.
I miss you all and hope you have a great week! Feel free to reach out and tell me how your lives are going.Elder Barker
