Week 41 June 26 - July 2
Our Bishop asked if Elder Barker would write down his testimony and if Landon (his younger brother) would read it in Fast and Testimony meeting for July, on July 2. Cool fact, that was also Kevin's birthday. Here is the testimony and report he sent:
Hey Bishop, thanks for this opportunity to share my testimony, and my mission report!TestimonyI want to start by saying I know that Heavenly Father loves each and every one of you so much, and because he loves us he sent us his son Jesus Christ. And because Jesus Christ loves us so much he Atoned for our sins. Every single one of them. I know that because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can repent and be forgiven, and be able to turn toward him every time we mess up. I also know that Jesus Christ knows what we are going through perfectly, and even though we might not feel him there, he is there. I know that Christ is the perfect example, and as we strive to emulate him, we will feel closer to him. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ, and thru them he was able to give us this church, and the Book of Mormon. I know that the Church and that Book is true. I know that thru reading that book, we can be open to receiving personal revelation. I know that Heavenly Father takes what we can give him, and he takes you the rest of the way. On my mission I have truly seen the Atonement of Jesus Christ bring about wonderful change and improvement in the lives of others. I know that President Russell M Nelson is the prophet of the church, and he is called of God. Lastly I know that because of Jesus Christ we can be able to see God again, and if we put in the work here it will be wonderful after this life. In the name of Jesus Christ amen.Mission reportAs of right now I have been on my mission for 9 months and loved every second of it. It has not been easy but I have seen growth through my trials and success. I have only served in 2 areas so far. The first one was Snow Peak Ward in Lebanon OR. I served there for 7 and a half months and had 2 companions while i was serving there. The ward there was amazing. While serving there I was able to bring 2 souls to baptism and unto Jesus Christ, and 1 more shortly after I got transfered named Alan. The first 2 were both 10 year Olds, named Treva and Ernie. I was able to baptize Ernie which was an amazing experience. I was also able to help some come back to church, and others to begin their journey toward Jesus Christ. I had such a fun time serving there, and I made so many friends for life, some of which were Elders I served around and others were members of the ward and other people I was teaching. One of them was someone named Debbie. When I started teaching her she wasn't super interested and just liked having us over to talk, and help with her yard. After going over there more she started to take interest, and was getting the desire to turn her life around. Now she is coming to church, she is using the Atonement of Jesus Christ to change, and make her life better, and more centered on him and God, and is beyond excited to get baptized. My second area has been the Willimina ward. I have only served here about a month and a half so I don't have too much to talk about other than Dylan, who has a sincere desire to learn more and come closer to his Savior. That's about it, I am sad I only have 15 months left, but I can't wait to make the most of it. I hope you all are doing great, and coming closer to your Savior every day. I miss you all and wish you the best!Elder BarkerI hope that works, and I hope your doing well, thanks Bishop!
It was Logan's birthday on July 1 and he turned 19 years old! We sent him a birthday package and he and his companions made crepes for breakfast on his birthday!! Pretty great birthday breakfast. He also got to try calamari a couple days after his birthday.
