Week 69 Mission Update

 Week 69 January 8-January 14, 2024

January 16, 2024

Hey guys! Sorry it's been a while since I have written. I'm still alive and in Oregon so that's a good sign! Hope you are doing well and had a good holiday season.

This past transfer for me was a pretty tough one. Alot of things did and didn't happen. But it has been a great opportunity for me to look for miracles in my everyday life, and to be grateful for what I do have, which is Jesus Christ as my Savior.
The area I am in doesn't have a lot going on right now, so we have had to do lots of finding, which isn't always the easiest sometimes. However we have lots of new members who we get to go and teach more about the church. They are all amazing and have such strong testimonies of the gospel, it is so cool to see them develop and increase their faith.
Another really cool family we have the opportunity to serve are the Rogers. She is a single mom with 4 kids running around the house all the time. So being able to go over and hang out with kids has been an amazing experience. Her two youngest aren't baptized yet so we get to (try) and teach their whole family the discussions.
It has also been really cool to see how wherever I go the church is the same no matter the number of people. Coming from my huge AZ ward to this branch of about 40 people has been a little culture shock for me. However I am able to get to know every member of the branch pretty well. So it is amazing to be out here building these relationships.
Also this past transfer I have seen some crazy weather out here on the coast. At the start of the transfer it flooded! Like it was so bad we couldn't even drive out of our street, there was water everywhere! It took about 2 days for the water to drain enough for us to drive. Sadly while we were walking around in the flood one of our neighbors offered us some canoes to use in the streets. Our first thought was no probably not. Then after we went inside, we all were like "do you guys ever make a decision and them afterwards regret it??" Anyway it was a fun time. Then just this past week an ice storm hit. There was a layer of ice over everything, so for another 2 days we could not drive anywhere because the street were an ice rink and our car was an ice block!
Anyways I hope you all are doing well, I am going to start trying to get into the habit of writing weekly again, not sure how I got out of that habit. But lastly transfers happened and I am staying here and getting a new comp so next week I should have some stuff to talk about! Love you all!
