Week 14 Christmas

Image
Logan.Barker@missionary.org Hey guys, I hope you all had a great Christmas!! To start the week off on Monday, we balled and played a nerf war with members in our ward.. Tuesday, we were able to go to the temple. It was a super awesome experience, and the Portland temple is super pretty. After the temple we ate at Olive garden, and went to Deseret book. That took pretty much all day, but it was totally worth it. I would encourage all that can to go to the temple often! Anyway Wednesday, and the first half of Thursday was normal missionary work. Then we got a call saying that Lebanon was going to have an ice storm. So we had to stay in the apartment all day. The crazy thing was about 10 min before we got the call we were biking, it was super cold so it made sense. Anyway Thursday afternoon we stayed in the apartment, and just chilled with the other Elders who happened to be on exchanges. It was super fun, we ended up playing dew pong, and me and Elder Martin won a best...

Week 13 Merry Christmas!

Logan.barker@missionary.org Hey Guys, I hope you had a great week. My week was the same old, same old, so I'll just talk about a couple of cool stuff I guess. Most of our member lessons were showing them the Christ Child video. Every time we showed it, it always brought the spirit. Most of the time it also consisted of sisters crying, but hey it just means they feel it. So it was really cool to see, how a video about the birth of our Savior could affect people so deeply. Also this week was exchanges with our zone leaders. I was with Elder Miller up in Jefferson. It was so awesome, he is trying his best to be a consecrated (obedient, hard-working, giving his all to the Lord)  missionary, and I want to as well. He made a goal to find a new person every day for the rest of his mission. So we taught a lesson and tracted. Also we ended up finding someone new at the end of the day so that was pretty sweet. Then on Friday we had our ward Christmas party. It was pretty fun. We got an...

Week 12 Leaves

Logan.barker@missionary.org So this week was pretty slow not sure why, but it was. Anyway the week started off with basketball. The next day we taught an old guy who is ready for baptism, but he thinks he is too old so it is going to take a while. After that we raked leaves for an old couple in the ward. We also helped them with stuff in their garage, and I had to pick up a rat with maggots, so that was fun. The next day we basically visited some people, and made the biggest leaf pile ever. It is 4 men raking leaves for 3 hours so it was pretty big. Anyway that was super fun, and exhausting. Most of the next two days was visiting people, and making contacts so thats always fun. Also I am able to drive now so anyone in Oregon watch out. Overall this week was great, and I had lots of fun. Also I get to go to the temple, so I am super excited for that. Thanks for everyone who has written me, I am working on getting back to you, I'm just busy. Anyway, think about Jesus this season and ...

Week 10 Turkey Week

Logan.Barker@missionary.org Hey guys, this week was super awesome! We got two p days, and had lots of fun! Also Thanksgiving on the mission isn't actually too bad. Anyways the week started off with p day and yes we played basketball all day. It's always nice to have that break. Tuesday came super fast, and to start it off we had to drop off a missionary leaving our area, 'cause of transfers. The rest of the day was mostly just visits, and a member dinner. Wednesday was fun, we started the day with a run to the gym, there is this super nice member that let's us use his gym so it is great. Then at the end of the day we went to McDonalds. We got our food, and this homeless guy started talking to us. He went on about politics, and bunch of other stuff. After he was getting up to leave, he took one of our Mcchickens, and a handful of my fries, and as he was leaving he promised us a house and a car, so I guess it's nice to know that I now have a house and ...
